3 Expert Secrets for Shinier Hair

Want to know how celebrity hairstylists are able to achieve the silky, Rapunzel-like locks they do on a regular basis? We found out for you. Incorporate these three tips from the experts into your beauty routine to get your shiniest, most beautiful hair yet.
The Blow-Dry Trick
Celebrity hairstylist Frédéric Fekkai recommends utilizing the “cool” button on your blow-dryer (which you may have always seen, but never thought to use). To get a smooth and shiny blowout, wait until your hair is almost completely dry (about 75 percent) and then blast the cool setting. “This will help seal the hair cuticle and set the final look while also boosting shine,” says Fekkai.
The Styling Savior
According to Alli Webb, founder of Drybar, using an ionic, ceramic brush (those with boar bristles are typically deemed the best in the industry) can leave your hair extra smooth and polished because it has negative ions in it that help tame frizz and reduce dullness. “The delivery of negative ions closes the hair cuticle tightly, creating a smooth surface that reflects light for mega shine,” says Webb.
The Post-Shower Solution
“My greatest tip that has produced the best results for my clients is to allow the hair to air dry, which works to enhance your natural texture,” says celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves.  “Allowing your hair to air dry results in smoother strands that can be easily touched up with a flat iron, or even a blow-dryer (your hair—after it’s been air-dried—will be far more strong and resilient than it would have been if you took a dryer to it completely wet). I style all my clients for shoots, red carpet events, weddings, etc., from air-dried, well-conditioned hair.”
