Using a “broad spectrum” sunscreen daily throughout the year is extremely important, because it blocks out both UVB and UVA. UVB (the sunburn rays) is at its maximum during the summer months when the sun is high (10:00am – 2:00pm). UVA is present in the same amount throughout the year and to the same degree from sunrise to sunset.
UVA has longer wavelengths and penetrates deeper into the skin where the collagen and elastic tissue is present.
There are now excellent broad spectrum sunscreens that are not greasy, do not sting, are cosmetically elegant, and give you the protection your skin needs
